The Abbey Motel was built around 2020 on Verner Street, in Goulburn's church heritage precinct, with matching century-old bricks from Bowral Bricks, the same supplier as the 1912 parish hall next door. That hall, the former St Patrick's school building, now houses Roses Cafe, which is where I would take breakfast. The town centre is a two-minute walk, so you can leave the car parked for dinner. Guests rate it 9.4 out of 10 across more than 2,000 reviews. It is a motel, though: no restaurant, no pool. Highway travellers who only want the Big Merino can stay out on the edge of town instead.
